MIDNIGHT MADNESS QUALIFIER The Midnight Madness Qualifier runs through the night, starting at 6pm in the evening and flowing through to 6am in the morning.  With wall to wall basketball action, live DJ’s, MC’s, the best in street dance, console gaming zone, ‘chill out’ lounge, large screen ‘cinema’ areas, prizes and giveaways – the event has become legendary and is simply not to be missed.

Over the years, Midnight Madness ‘through the night’ events have developed into ‘the place to be’ for all basketball players, hoops fans and those just wanting to hang out and take in all the action, entertainment, summer fun and positive vibes.  The events are 100% free for both players and spectators to attend and participate in, and feature the following:

• ‘Last Chance Show & Prove’ U21’s & O21’s


• If you just missed out on winning yourself a Golden Ticket from the Midday Madness events, this is your last chance to grab 1 of only 20 tickets we’re putting aside for ‘Last Chance Show & Prove’ at the MM Qualifier.  All 20 tickets must be won within just 2 hours – so the demand is going to be crazy, and you’re advised to arrive early if you want to at least be in with a chance of winning one of the last Golden Tickets that will advance you through to the ‘semi-finals’ of the competition.


• Female-only Show & Prove


• Dedicated court just for women – where we the All-MM Women’s O21 & U21 First, Second and Third teams are selected.  The best players of the summer will have their profiles featured in our players section and get to represent MM throughout the year in competition. 


• Under 21 Elite Court


• The official ‘quarter-final’ stage of the U21 competition.  Elite Court action at the MM Qualifier is strictly reserved for Golden Ticket winners only, which must be won at a Midday Madness event or at Last Chance Show & Prove.  U21 players will compete for 1 of the 40 spots in the MM Luol Deng ‘Boot Camp’.  Where the top 20 players progressing through to Finals Night at Wembley will be decided.  U21 players will compete between 6pm-12 Midnight.


• Over 21 Elite Court


• The official ‘semi-final’ stage of the O21 competition.  Elite Court action at the MM Qualifier is strictly reserved for Golden Ticket winners only, which must be won at a Midday Madness event or at Last Chance Show & Prove. O21 players will compete for 1 of 20 spots in the biggest night of summer basketball anywhere in the UK: Finals Night @ Wembley Arena. O21 players will compete from 12 Midnight – 6am. 


• Slam Dunk Search – Finals


• The finals of our UK-wide Slam Dunk Search.  We’re looking for the best 2 Slam Dunk kings from the UK to represent GB in an international dunk competition at Finals Night @ Wembley.  The dunk competition is shaping up to be the best ever witnessed on UK soil with globally-respected dunkers from the US and Europe all making flight plans towards Wembley Arena on the 16th August.  The winners of our UK Slam Dunk Search will get to rep for the whole of the UK in the biggest dunk competition ever seen in Britain.  To secure a place in the finals, dunkers need to go to one of the Midday Madness events and win one of the regional dunk competitions.  Dunkers can pre-register for the dunk regional competitions at Midday Madness by clicking here.


•  ‘Chill Out Lounge’


• The Chill Out Lounge is always a popular hang out spot at MM.  A break from the fast paced action, wall to wall with comfy sofas and seating, soft lighting and a  wide-screen ‘cinema’ style screen showing the best in basketball and urban interest movies.


• Gaming Zones


• Go head2head against your friends, or simply play alone – either way the Gaming Zones are always a welcomed feature at MM.  Fresh for summer ’08, full-sized gaming pods and the hottest basketball game on the planet are scheduled to keep you busy when not on the court. 


• Live DJ’s & MC’s


• Back to back DJ’s on rotation all night long, spinning the best in R&B, Hip Hop and a little funky house and bashment just to keep it real.  As ever, the mic men are back, led by Nhamz (aka: The Voice Of Reason) and a couple of new voices this summer, calling the action, catching jokes and keeping it moving.


• Prizes & Giveaways


• Bringing back the ‘MM Assist’ competition where we roam the sidelines and pick random spectators and/or players, ask a MM-related question, you get it right and we bless you with a prize from the ‘MM goodie bag’.  Simple, easy and guaranteed fun.  Best of all, anyone can win!


• Hot food and refreshments – all night long


• FREE Nike Midnight Madness’08 T-shirt for ALL participants


• FREE Nike Midnight Madness reversible Elite Vests for all Elite Court players


• FREE bottled water/energy drinks for all participants

On the Elite Court at MM, players are put into balanced teams and scored individually by the Ball Without Bias (BWB) computerised stats system, which evaluates players on their strengths and weaknesses while promoting and rewarding exciting play.  BWB is not just about how many times you put the ball though the hoop!  To score well on BWB you have to play fundamentally sound, well-rounded team basketball as it measures your whole game (shooting, rebounding, passing, defense etc) – with the highest rewards for teams that consistently win.  To find out more on how  BWB works, click here.

Players are competing for a place on the leaderboard, which details who the top scoring players are on the BWB system.  The leaderboard is updated continuously throughout Elite Court play, and the name of the game for all players is to make sure you are amongst the top placed players by the end of play. 

For the U21 males, the top 40 players at the end of the session are rewarded with a place at the MM ‘Boot Camp’, the ‘semi-final’ stage of the U21 competition.

For the O21 males, the top 20 players qualify straight through to the biggest night on the UK basketball summer calendar: Finals Night @ Wembley Arena.

THIS EVENT IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR ALL PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS – HOWEVER PLACES ARE LIMITED AND AWARDED ON A ‘FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED’ BASIS. 

FOR SPECTATORS, THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE OF SECURING YOUR PLACE IS BY REGISTERING AND DOWNLOADING YOUR FREE TICKET WHILE STOCKS LAST!

FOR PLAYERS, YOU NEED TO ATTEND ONE OF THE MIDDAY MADNESS EVENTS AND TRY TO WIN ONE OF THE GOLDEN TICKETS AVAILABLE AT EACH OF THE EVENTS.  IF YOU DON’T WIN ONE AT MDM, WE’LL BE MAKING LIMITED TICKETS FOR ‘LAST CHANCE SHOW & PROVE’ AVAILABLE AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE LAST MDM EVENT.
